Any revision can be a chance to improve user focus in a design, even a simple form update.

User Administration for CRD

The original request was simply to redesign an old form into a new one. The GUI components were constrained by the widget set already selected for the application. After some user observations I realized that simply redesigning the form would not help much, given the problems I could see.

I developed a task list, and a taxonomy that organized the way the people who had to use the form thought about the information. Tasks became their own collapsible panel and the taxonomy helped organize all the user details that had been a long scrolling list in the old form.

Finally I designed a task-specific search bar after hearing many complaints about how hard it was to find records that people wanted to pick out.
